SWALLOW COURT

PASSION IS RELENTLESS DETERMINATION TO ACHIEVE WHATEVER IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU…

A1 Housing is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) that provides the day-to-day management of Bassetlaw District Council’s housing stock of around 7,000 properties. A1 Housing has, for several years, employed the services of Network Communication Systems (NCS) to provide maintenance and support to their sheltered housing stock of over 100 schemes.

In 2010, Swallow Court, a sheltered housing scheme in Misterton, was in a poor state of repair and in desperate need of modernisation. Redevelopment began in November 2010 intending to convert the scheme’s 21 studio apartments into ten 3-bedroom homes and three 2-bedroom flats, to improve the standard of living to conform to the Government’s Decent Homes standard.

To meet the needs of DayBreak’s residents, Network Communications installed a selection of telecare equipment ranging from door monitoring systems to advanced motion sensors.

NCS was brought in to supply and install the emergency call, access control, door entry and CCTV systems for the scheme’s residents. The project’s architect, Darren Wolfe, explains further:

“Network Communications’ warden call system is great for the residents. It means that they can get assistance 24 hours a day, even when the warden is off duty, which gives everyone peace of mind. The system works well, it’s easy to use. NCS did their job well and were very good to work with on-site.”

The redevelopment of Swallow Court was finished in August 2011. Now home to 36 people, it has exceeded the Decent Homes standard and has become A1 Housing’s flagship scheme for sheltered housing.
